about me
Hello!
I am 26 years old and living somewhere in one of those states with too much snow and too many 20-somethings walking around with their eyes turned downward, focusing on the tiny little screen in their hands.
And because that little screen holds a world that attracts our generation, a world we didn't grow up with but now we can't live without, I decided to join it. Officially. By becoming... [drumroll] ...a blogger.
And what do I have to contribute? Good question.
My formal education, for one, (which may or may not be entirely irrelevant, depending on the day) includes a completed bachelors degree in behavioral psychology, anthropology, and gender and women's studies; an almost-completed masters degree in marriage and family therapy; and a graduate certificate in integrative holistic health and wellness. I am a certified birth doula and a level 2 Usui Reiki practitioner. I have a new interest - dare I call it obsession? - each week. My apartment is clean-ish, my car is messy (very), and I often misplace my keys. I have a little to say on a lot of topics and sometimes I talk as if there is an ever standing question mark at the end of my sentences. I have cats and rats, prefer reading non-fiction books, and like to shop local... when my budget allows it.
But really I think all of that says very little about me. We are all more than our titles - more than our education, our jobs, our hobbies. We are cells and molecules, energy spinning in every direction, abstract and real.
And because we are each abstract and individual, because my mind cannot possibly compete with your mind and my existence is only meaningful in relation to you and all other sentient beings, because beauty is everywhere and we just have to open our eyes to see it, because there is plenty of time in each moment but not enough time in a lifetime, because our stories heal us, because we need to expand and connect and confide - because of these things I urge you to join me.
Let's expand our hearts and minds together. A work in progress, together. Dabbling in progressive mindfulness, together.
